Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo 100ml

Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo is for the treatment and prevention of dandruff. The shampoo has been formulated to clear and control the yeasts associated with dandruff. It also treats the inflammation associated with dandruff, relieving scalp redness and itching.

Dandruff is associated with an increased number of yeasts called Malassezia (used to be called Pityrosporum). These occur naturally on everyone's skin, however, people with dandruff seem to have more Malassezia than usual. Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo is one of a group of products called antifungals which are used to treat such conditions caused by yeasts.

Wet hair thoroughly.
Apply a small amount of shampoo to your scalp and massage into a lather.
Leave the lather on your scalp for 3-5 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly.
Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo is for external use only.

To clear dandruff, use the shampoo every 3 or 4 days for 2-4 weeks. If your scalp has not cleared within 4 weeks, please speak to your pharmacist or doctor.

To keep your scalp clear, you should use the shampoo once every 1-2 weeks.

Please do not use the shampoo more often than directed. If you need to use a shampoo more often, you can use your usual shampoo. If your hair is very thick, you can wash with your usual shampoo and then use Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo.

Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo can be used if you are pregnant or during breast feeding.

If you have been regularly using a lotion or cream which contains a steroid (such as betamethasone or hydrocortisone) to control your dandruff, gradually use it less and less over 2-3 weeks as you start to use your Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo. This will stop your condition flaring up while your shampoo starts to work. If you have any questions about stopping your steroid lotion or cream, please speak to you doctor or pharmacist.

Once your dandruff has cleared, you can control it and stop it coming back by using your shampoo regularly once every one or two weeks. If you stop using your Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo altogether your dandruff may become a problem again.

Like other shampoos your Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo also contains other ingredients which gently clean your hair. The other ingredients in your shampoo are sodium lauryl ether sulphate, disodium monolauryl ether sulphosuccinate, coconut fatty acid diethanolamide, laurdimonium hydrolysed animal collagen, macrogol 120 methyl glucose dioleate, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, imidurea, hydrochloric acid, erythrosine (E127) and purified water.

Dandruff can cause some hair loss which has been reported with Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo. Occasionally hair discoloration has been reported. This mainly occurs in patients with grey hair or hair that has been treated frequently, such as the use of colours, bleaching or perms.

Very rarely, eczema and hair loss may occur.

If the shampoo affects you in any other way, then please stop using it and tell your pharmacist or doctor.

Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo should be kept in a safe place where children cannot reach or see it. Store the shampoo below 25°C. Please do not use the shampoo after the expiry date printed on the label. If you have any shampoo left over which you no longer need, please return it to your pharmacist.
